A total of 18,177 visitors came to the Muisti Centre of War and Peace and the Headquarters Museum over the summer. This figure is 11 percent higher than in the summer of 2023.
Overall, this year has been busier compared to the previous one. By the end of August, a total of 28,535 people have visited Muisti and the Headquarters Museum, representing an 18.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
“We are very pleased with the visitor numbers this year. Muisti’s recognition has clearly grown, and our marketing efforts have been effective”, says CEO Olli-Pekka Leskinen.
— The themes of war and peace, as well as the history of the headquarters, clearly interest people in these times.
The new Mannerheim exhibition, which opened at the Headquarters Museum in June, has received positive feedback. Over 70 percent of Muisti and Headquarters Museum visitors come from outside Mikkeli, with 46 percent of them from the Helsinki metropolitan area. The number of visitors from other regions is particularly high during the summer season. This year, around 20,000 visitors to Muisti have traveled more than 50 kilometers, which is significant for Mikkeli’s local economy.
Muisti expects visitor numbers to remain high throughout the autumn. There are many group bookings, and the museum visit and meal package at Café-Restaurant Rauha during the holiday season has already generated interest. The goal for 2024 is to reach a total of 35,000 visitors.
