The opening ceremony of NATO’s Multi-Corps Land Component Command, MCLCC, was held in Mikkeli on 3 October 2025. The NATO flag, along with the flags of the nations whose personnel have joined the MCLCC’s core team, were raised.
The role of the MCLCC is to lead the alliance’s land forces and coordinate the operations of national land forces in the northern area. This includes planning, preparing, and leading joint training activities of the alliance.
The command began operations on 1 September 2025, with eight personnel forming its initial core team.
