Mikkeli Pride Week will culminate on Saturday, 8 August with a joyful parade and park celebration. The day’s festivities will begin at 8.00 am with the raising of the rainbow flag outside Mikkeli Main Library.
Before the parade, Pride Day will be officially opened in Kirkkopuisto at 1.00 pm. The parade will then set off from Kirkkopuisto towards Nuijamies and Tykkipuisto, where a park celebration will take place.
A youth after-party will be held at Starlight, Maaherrankatu 10, from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Adults can continue the celebrations at Wilhelm Public House from 8.00 pm onwards, featuring burlesque performances and drag artists.
Pride is a movement that promotes equality, human rights and visibility for sexual and gender minorities. Pride events celebrate diversity, highlight the experiences of minority communities and remind us that everyone should have the same rights and opportunities to live as their authentic selves, free from discrimination and bullying.
Mikkeli Pride is organised by Etelä-Savo Pride ry and a group of volunteers of all ages.
