Starting in April, you will be able to pay for your journey on Mikkeli’s local buses and Moppe service transport vehicles using a bank card or any other payment method that supports contactless payment. This new payment method will be introduced at the beginning of April.
Contactless payment is especially recommended for occasional bus users. In addition to contactless, you can still pay for your journey with a Waltti travel card, the Waltti mobile app, or exact cash.
Contactless payment will be available on local transport lines 1R, 1T, 2S, 2T, 2X, 3, 4L, 4T, 5, 6, 7 and 10, as well as on the Moppe service transport routes Moppe 1 and Moppe 2.
With contactless, you can only pay for single adult tickets for one passenger. The ticket price is determined by the number of fare zones travelled through – the more zones, the higher the fare.
Tickets are valid for 90 minutes. If you take multiple journeys in one day and use the same contactless card to pay, the onboard reader will recognise your payment method. The contactless system will automatically calculate the most affordable fare for your travel. Once the daily fare cap is reached, any further journeys for the rest of the day are free. The daily cap applies from 00:00 to 23:59.
Please note that the absence of a contactless payment device on a bus does not entitle you to a free journey, compensation, or an extension of your ticket’s validity. In such cases, the fare must be paid using another accepted method.
