In addition, the Mikkeli area has several dozen playgrounds which provide a safe playing environment and also develop the motor skills and imagination of children.
The majority of the playgrounds are small, local block parks intended for the use of the nearby residents. The basic equipment includes a swing-set, multipurpose equipment, different spring rockers and a sandpit.
Block parks are designed for children under 7 years old, and the equipment can be used for basic fun and games.
